FG TO ESTABLISH 14TH UNIVERSITY IN OSUN STATE AT IRAGBIJI

The bill for the establishment of the 14th University in Osun State has passed second reading at the Senate. The proposed University is named Federal University of Agriculture and Tropical Studies (FUATS) Iragbiji, Osun State. The Senate on Wednesday 2nd of October passed for a second reading a bill for the establishment of the University which is expected to increase human capacity in the field of Agriculture, particularly, at a time when the Federal government is working assiduously, towards self-reliance in food production. The establishment of this University will add to the existence of 13 other ones in Osun State. Presently, the State has a total of 13 Universities, comprising of federal, state, and private institutions. Federal Universities 1. - Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife 2. - Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun, Osun State ¹ State Universities 3. - Osun State University, Osogbo 4. - University of Ilesa, Osun State Private Universities 5. - Adeleke University, Ede 6. - Bowen University, Iwo 7. - Fountain University, Oshogbo 8. - Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji 9. - Kings University, Ode Omu 10. - Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu 11. - Redeemer’s University, Ede 12. - Westland University, Iwo 13. - Mercy Medical University, Iwo.
