The acronym for Owoeye Samuel Abiodun is OSA. In Yorubaland, Osa is a short for Orisa which are classified as deities to be worshiped. But this OSA has nothing to do with any Orisa as he serves the living God in His majesty as an Evangelist. Family, friends and associates were all in the ancient city of Esa-Oke last Saturday, the 26th of October, 2024 where Hon. Chief Owoeye Samuel Abiodun was conferred with the title of Otun Baba Ijo of Methodist Church Nigeria, Esa Oke circuit under the leadership of Rt. Reverend Timothy Olatunji, the Bishop of Ijesha North Diocese. Owoeye, along with 13 other deserving personalities in the society were conferred with various titles. Present at the event were friends and families of the former Chairman of Obokun East LCDA while members of the prestigious Osogbo Tennis Club were led to the event by former Nigeria’s Ambassador to Mexico and former Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, His Excellency, Rt. Honourable Adejare Bello who is the Chairman Board of Trustees of the club and its President Mr. Abiola Oni. Owoeye’s immediate political constituency at ward 7 Esaoke was not left out as they all trooped out to felicitate with their leader. The surprise appearance of Aragbiji of Iragbiji and Owamiran of Esa Oke who came to honour the man who is fondly called OSA added glamour to the event. Speaking to Newstrend after the event, Chief Owoeye confessed that he took the title essentially for his parents who desired it. “Honestly I took the title to honor my Parents Chief and Chief Mrs Mathew Kolawole Owoeye JP” he said. Hon. Owoeye however gives God the glory for counting him worthy of the spiritual title of Otun Baba Ijo of the Church out of millions of people that are equally qualified!
