As the Head of the Department of Adult Education, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, Professor Mrs. Ayimoro Dorcas Oluwatoyin is a guiding light; shaping the future of the next generation of Nigerians, infusing sound and qualitative education in them. Welcome to the world of this erudite scholar, who grew up and spent her early life in the ancient city of Ibadan where she had her early Education, she went to Primary and Secondary schools at Army Children School, Mokola, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, and Iroko Community Grammar School, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria respectively.
Today, she is the first Professor of Community Development and Women/Gender issues to be appointed in the Department of Adult Education at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State. Don’t have the illusion that she got her present status on a platter of gold; it is a promotion she got through a dint of hard work, facing a plethora of overt and covert educational challenges. She came into the services of AAUA in year 2005, rose through the ranks to the pinnacle of her career by becoming a Professor in year 2020.
Professor Ayimoro is an education colossus, her lorry load of credentials is not only intimidating, they are classic and enviable. For instance, she has over forty high impact publications in international Learned Journals. She is widely consulted, as over one hundred scholars had cited her. She has served as reviewer of papers in local and international Journals. Also, she was an external examiner at the University of Zululand, South Africa. “Prof.” as she is fondly called by her students is known for community services, as she belongs to three International Non- Governmental Organizations, including Women of Dignity International, Canada, where she bagged awards and the hero status because of her impact in communities, before, during the COVID - 19 period, and after.
This education Czar also belongs to Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN), where she was the pioneer Chairperson and had a meritorious award.
As ombudsman between the School authority and the students, she had mentored them excellently at the undergraduate, graduate and post graduate levels. This year, two of her Doctoral students graduated.
She is thirsty for the acquisition of more knowledge, reason for her prolific attendance of conferences all over the globe. She bagged the best presenter in the Humanities and Social Sciences conference in Canada and excellence in Tennessee. Also, she went further to add to knowledge to better improve on the society by studying a diploma course in Family Health and Nursing Education.
Professor Ayimoro is a vessel of educational sagaciousness, who dishes knowledge to people all over the world relentlessly. She was also at Restoration of the Dignity of womanhood (ROTDOW) where she gave a seminar and talks to a mammoth crowd. Her ladder of Education acquisition from reputable institutions like The University of Ibadan, University of Ilorin and Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba includes, Ph.D Community Development, M.Ed Community Development, BA.Ed (Hons.) (Language Arts/French), NCE (Nigeria Certificate in Education), Grade II Teachers’ Certificate.
The mother of three and Grandmother of a beautiful girl is widely travelled and happily married; she is a member of so many organizations like Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). Member, Nigerian National Council for Adult Education (NNCAE) National Treasurer, Association for Sustainable Development and Communities Integration of Nigeria (ASDACIN). Member, Canadian History Education Association (CHEA). Member, American Association of University Administrators (AAUA). Member, International Society for Development and Sustainability (ISDC), Japan. She has conducted so many research to her credit and she's also a social welfare worker with empathy for human well being.
